Recap: Last Week's Outreach Events

On March 28th, AAHI joined the Chinese American Senior Services Association (CASSA) for their 18th Health Check-Up. This is an event that CASSA hosts twice a year at the MobileMed/CASSA clinic in Germantown, offering a variety of services to community members. AAHI provided general health information as well as bone density screenings at our Resource Information Table.

The next day, the Viet Nam Medical Assistance Program (VNMAP), with support from AAHI, held their Screening, Management, Awareness, and Solutions for Hepatitis B (SMASH-B) Education & Screening Day. This program aims to provide free hepatitis B education, screening, vaccination, and treatment referrals for the community in Montgomery County. During this event, community members had the opportunity to attend an educational lecture on hepatitis B. Afterwards, they were able to receive a free hepatitis B screening.

While community members waited to get screened, they could visit different exhibitor booths. At AAHI's Resource Information Table, we provided information on breast cancer, hepatitis B, osteoporosis, local resources, diabetes, and patient-physician communication.

On April 2nd, AAHI participated in Watkins Mill High School's Annual Health Fair. The health fair promoted different aspects of health and wellness for students and families. AAHI provided general health information and carbon monoxide screenings. Students who stopped by our Resource Information Table had the chance to spin our Wheel of Health Education to learn more about local resources.
