Save the Date for Our ECHO Workshop!

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services' Asian American Health Initiative, in partnership with the African American Health Program (AAHP), Latino Health Initiative (LHI), and Community Action Agency (CAA), would like to invite you to join us for a free training workshop! This workshop is part of the Empowering Community Health Organizations (ECHO) Project 2016.

This free workshop is the third in our three-part series about health data. "Basics of Program Evaluation" will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 from 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm. A light dinner will be provided at 5:30 pm and the program will begin at 6:00 pm. Dr. Olivia Carter-Pokras, Professor of Epidemiology at the University of Maryland College Park, will be discussing the role of evaluation in program growth and the basics of conducting an evaluation. Data from program evaluations can strengthen grant proposals and can determine the effectiveness of a program. Knowledge of program evaluation can benefit any organization or program.

In addition to the workshop, we will be celebrating AAHI’s 10-year milestone during the evening. We are excited to have you join us for this occasion!

Space is limited. Registration is required. Please RSVP by Wednesday, April 27, 2016. You can register online by clicking here or by calling Harihar Bhattarai, AAHI Program Assistant, at 240-777-4517.

If you have any questions, or if you are unable to register, please contact Mr. Bhattarai via telephone or email at Harihar.Bhattarai@montgomerycountymd.gov. We hope you join us in building a healthier community!

Recap: AAHI at Watkins Mill High School Health Fair

Yesterday, March 23rd, AAHI attended the Watkins Mill High School Annual Health Fair hosted by the Watkins Mill High School Wellness Center.

This was the second time AAHI attended the health fair. Other than providing general health information and educational resources for the students, our Behavioral Health Program Coordinator, Alice Zic, was also there to discuss mental health issues within the community. Numerous students approached the booth during the event and were receptive and eager to learn. They were enthusiastic in trying out our Wheel of Health Education and many took our mental health photonovels.

Thank you Watkins Mill High School for having AAHI at your health fair!
