Cancer Does Not Discriminate & OLVN Health Fair

A few updates from AAHI...

(1) As promised, Holy Cross Hospital and their partners (AAHI included) have rescheduled their Cancer Does Not Discriminate event, originally scheduled in April, for Saturday June 12th from 8:30am to 1:30pm. Please join AAHI at this event! It is a great opportunity to learn about the effects of cancer and tobacco on ethnic populations. The event is FREE of charge and there will also be a complimentary breakfast and lunch alongside cultural performances. It promises to be a great event!

(2) After weeks of planning, the AAHI hosted health fair at Our Lady of Vietnam took place last weekend on Sunday May 16th. Thank you to all of the vendors who participated and made this a wonderful event. Pictures are still being secured from this event, however please check some of what we do have below.

Recently at AAHI...

There has been much going on AAHI these past few weeks! Some of the events we have attended include:

- Advertising for the health fair at Our Lady of Vietnam (OLVN) on May 9th
- Montgomery County Executive's Asian American Resource Fair on May 8th
- Gaithersburg Upcounty Senior Center's "Active Aging Expo" on May 3rd
- Holy Cross Hospital's Cancer Screening "To Your Health" Day on May 1st

Check out some of the pictures from these events below:

AAHI staff visited OLVN this past Sunday May 9th to help advertise for the health fair this coming Sunday on May 16th. The Our Lady of Veitnam community member who is working with AAHI to plan the health fair setup this table at the church. Community members can learn about some of the services available to them this coming Sunday.

AAHI staff, Health Promoters, and Steering Committee member with County Executive Mr. Isiah Leggett at the Asian American Resource Fair this past Saturday on May 8th.

Staff member, Atyya Chaudhry, at the AAHI table at the Active Aging Expo on Monday May 3rd.

The Active Aging Expo was a great event for our County seniors. This is an exercise demonstration where seniors were able to learn exercises to help maintain bone strength.

Staff member, Atyya Chaudhry, and Health Promoters, Kathy Lee and Sufia Mannan, educated community members about AAHI at Holy Cross Hospital's cancer screening and education event on Saturday May 1st.

Here, Health Promoter Sufia Mannan, is actively educating a fair participant about our services.
