Cervical Cancer Awareness Month

January is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month! Did you know that all women are at risk for cervical cancer? According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), cervical cancer occurs most often in women over age 30. About 12,000 women in the United States get cervical cancer each year. Fortunately, cervical cancer is the easiest gynecologic cancer to prevent, with regular screening tests and follow-up. Encourage your family and friends to get regular Pap tests (Pap smear) and human papillomavirus (HPV) tests to help prevent or find cervical cancer early!

You can visit CDC's webpage on cervical cancer to learn more about the disease and important screening information.

The Community and Minority Outreach Department of Holy Cross Hospital will provide health awareness information and resources in honor of Cervical Cancer Awareness Month! Blood pressure screenings will also be available. Please call 301-754-8800 for more information.
