New Year Celebrations!

The Cambodian and Thai communities recently celebrated the coming of their new year. AAHI had the opportunity to experience both celebrations and provide health information to community members!

On April 12th, AAHI joined the Cambodian Buddhist Society at their Cambodian New Year Celebration in Silver Spring. Community members participated in different cultural and religious activities as part of the celebrations. At AAHI's outreach table, we provided information about breast cancer, hepatitis B, osteoporosis, local resources, diabetes, and patient-physician communication. We also used the Wheel of Health Education to provide information about heart health.

On April 13th, AAHI attended the Songkran New Year Festival hosted by Wat Thai Washington DC. The Songkran Festival is known as the traditional New Year Day in Thailand. There was a variety of religious and social activities, as well as cultural music performances and food stands. AAHI Health Promoters provided general health information and carbon monoxide screenings at our outreach table.

Thank you to the Cambodian Buddhist Society and Wat Thai Washington DC for having us participate in your exciting cultural events!
