KCSC ACT Hep B Education & Screening Days

On March 2nd and 9th, the Korean Community Service Center (KCSC), with support from AAHI, hosted their free hepatitis B Education & Screening Days at New Covenant Fellowship Church (NCFC) and St. Andrew Kim Catholic Church (SAKCC). These events were the first of their Active Care and Treatment (ACT) of Hepatitis B Project, which is an education, screening, vaccination, and treatment referral program for the Korean community in Montgomery County. Before the screenings began, participants listened to a brief health education lecture on hepatitis B. Following the lecture, over 70 participants at NCFC and over 90 participants at SAKCC were able to receive free hepatitis B screenings!

At SAKCC, AAHI held a mini health fair for participants as they waited to get screened. We provided information about various health topics and the Affordable Care Act. Participants also had the opportunity to spin the Wheel of Health Education to learn more about local resources and win some fun prizes.

Overall, the ACT Hep B Education & Screening Days were a success, and AAHI would like to thank our partners at KCSC, volunteers, Health Promoters, and staff for their contributions!
